Hello Friends! I will be participating in the Sci-fi and Fantasy panel at the Push to Publish Conference on the campus of Drexel University in Philadelphia. This event is brought to you by the people at Philadelphia Stories, and it will be my first in-person event since the beginning of COVID! We will be talking about Strategies for Fantasy and Sci-Fi Writers. This panel will discuss strategies for writing and publishing fantasy and science fiction and will explore the role of genre and subgenre in both the creative and publication processes.

So You’ve Finished Writing and Revising Your Young Adult / Middle Grade Novel — Now What?

I’m excited to be teaching this workshop at this year’s Philadelphia Writing Workshop, which will be held online this year. Here’s the summary:

An in-depth look at how to get your book published, from joining the writing community and crafting a head-turning query letter, to finding the right agent and surviving the submission process. While this class will focus on the route to traditional publication, we will also discuss the pros and cons of traditional publishing vs. self-publishing, as well as online and print resources to help give your book its best fighting chance in the world of traditional publishing.

The Festival of Words is a unique opportunity that brings together secondary students, teachers and librarians from all over the state of Delaware to discuss and write about young adult literature. 

I'll be participating on a panel with two other debut authors--Meghan Rogers and Isabel Bandeira--discussing Writing Your First Novel. Looking forward to meeting lots of young writers from Delaware!
